With the USSSA Conference and Lynn Ledford’s The Summit being only three weeks apart this year, Ross Gage took the opportunity to catch up with a number of the older SwimSchoolers that he has befriended since his first USSSA Conference (then NSSA) back in 1993. Like Ross, all are USSSA Hall of Famers.
Leaving the USSSA event in Orlando, first stop was Dallas Fort Worth for highly valued time with Jan and Dave Emler. Then north to Tulsa to be with the spritely 90 year olds, Larry and Rita Miller. West again to Phoenix, to be with more trail-blazers who started their own swim schools – Bob & Kathy Hubbard and Lana Whitehead. And completing East to West: The Summit in Orange County – with loads of terrific SwimSchoolers and GymnasticsClubbers. Extra Industry legends time there too, with Jeff Metzger and Lynn. Last stop: time with Blue Buoy’s delightful Johnny and Cindy Johnston.
Along the way, insightful times with Emler Swim School’s amazing Kendra Walker, Miller Swim Schools’ Gina Kinnison and Terri Carnly, SWIMkids USA’s Lance Whitehead, and the Hubbard Family Swim Schools’ Anne-Marie and Pat Sunderhaus and Matt Young.
First and foremost – catching up with this grand bunch … though lots of insights into what constitutes long-term success; and plenty of discussion on the pros and cons of selling. (Pictured with Larry and Rita)
